John Drake, President


After attending Texas Tech University with a Masters of Architecture John moved to the Orlando area where he worked for two architecture firms before opening his own practice, Green Apple Architecture in Winter Park, FL.  John enjoys working with his clients on their residential or commercial projects to steward their finances in a responsible and efficient manner while also prioritizing design and sustainability.

John and his wife Kimberly have been married since 1997.  They have four children, Julian, Jude and Pax and Joy.

John’s role with Africa Windmill Project is to work directly developing the staff and helping to prepare short and long term goals for Africa Windmill Project.  John also helps the staff as they work to develop irrigation technology appropriate to our different projects.


John Parker, Vice President


After attending college at Taylor University, John worked in student ministry for several years while preparing for the dream of one day starting a church. John and his wife Brandy, along with God’s grace and some close friends, founded Summit Church in 2001.  John is Summit’s Lead Pastor, John has a strong desire to see people filled with purpose and direction. His chief responsibilities include developing strategy, building biblically functioning communities through solidifying the foundational structures of various ministries, shepherding staff and congregants, implementing vision, and generally equipping both staff and volunteers for ministry. John leads Summit in developing our partnerships in Africa.

John and his wife Brandy have been married since August 1999. Their greatest joy is raising their children, adopted from Ethiopia: Mulunesh, Sinkenesh, Archike, Samuel, Abush, and Aschalew.

John’s role in Africa Windmill Project is to provide counsel and strategy for developing and implementing partnerships.  He utilizes his knowledge of organization structures and missions to keep Africa Windmill Project focused and growing.


Craig Petersen, Treasurer


Craig Petersen celebrates his second year as Chief Operating Officer with PowerDMS, Inc.
He has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in strategy and operations.

Recognized for more than two and a half decades of invaluable contributions in his field, Mr. Petersen has found professional success with PowerDMS, Inc., a cloud-based solutions provider. Over the course of the past two years, in his capacity as chief operating officer, he has overseen daily business operations, including marketing, customer service and finances. Additionally, he ensures that his team is professionally and personally developed. Mr. Petersen has done a great deal of speaking and presenting on topics such as entrepreneurial endeavors and leadership. He is also a big proponent of helping the business community in Orlando.

Prior to joining PowerDMS, Mr. Petersen started in the industry in 1987, on the functional and vocational side, with Union Pacific Railroad. In addition to his prior experiences, his educational background has contributed to his success in the field. He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, as well as a dual bachelor’s degree in business management and theology from Grace University. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Branding and also maintains affiliation with the Harvard Business School Club of Jacksonville.

Craig and His wife Teri have been married since 1992.  They have four children Alex, Noelle, Miranda and Gwynn.

Craig’s role with Africa Windmill Project is to help with long term planning, organization and financial transparency.
